Black Mountain, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
Utah

Straddling the ridge to Black Mountain, we have a grand view of Salt Lake City and the surroundings.  Rain falling to our north west side drains into City Creek Canyon while rain falling on our south east side drains into the smaller gulch of Dry Creek.  Forty miles to the north, Odgen Peak is faintly visible while 20 miles to our south, Lone Peak is the last visible snow capped mountain.  Beyond downtown Salt Lake to our south west Nelson Peak rises above the Oquirrhs range.  Further west, the northern end of the Stansbury range stretches into the Great Salt Lake, ending in Stansbury Island.  Nearer to our west, Antelope Island rises above the lake.

To the south east, the successive canyons and drainages of Red Butte, Emigration, and Parleys Canyon are visible as are the upper ridges of Bells and the Cottonwood Canyons.  The Twin Peaks are visible beyond the flat face of Mount Olympus.
