Santa Maria la Real (Las Henestrosas de Las Quintanillas)
Northern Spain

The Romanesque apse consists of a furnace vault and pointed barrel vault in the previous section.

The naves are covered with ribbed vaults dated in the sixteenth century.

The altarpiece is plateresque and the image of the Virgin with Child is Gothic dated in the fourteenth century.

It has Gothic paintings depicting biblical episodes: the wedding at Cana, the travel to Egypt with the miracle of wheat,
the Nativity and the Massacre of the Innocents, the Mass of St. Gregory and St. Peter and St. Paul.
Secular subjects are also represented as the Battle of Clavijo or a minstrel playing an early form of a guitar.
They have been dated in the second half of the fifteenth century or beginning of the sixteenth.
