At only 27 km from Huesca (Aragon), in the village of Loarre is one of the most impressive castles in northern Spain: Loarre Castle (Castillo de Loarre). The castle is impressive, impressive on the hill as a lookout.
Castle Loarre was declared cultural heritage and national monument in 1906. It is the oldest castle in Spain and one of Roman fortresses best preserved in Europe.
Surrounded by an exterior wall of 10 000 m2. It was built on the remains of a Roman building of the 11th century, whose works were completed in the 13th century. Initially, the houses were arranged inside the walls.
