Drombeg Stone Circle, County Cork
Ireland

Dating back to the Bronze Age, Drombeg stone circle comprises 17 stones, forming a circle with a nine metre diameter. Excavations of the 3,000 year-old site revealed cremated bones from an urn burial in the centre which took place around 153BC and 127AD.

Archeological examination of the site also revealed a Stone Age cooking pit, where a large flagged trough was used to to boil water by dropping red-hot stones into it.
