Fontibre - Source of Ebro river
Northern Spain

The river's name comes from the latin Iberus Flumen who has given his name to the Iberian Peninsula and Iberian countries.

Traditionally, this place of Fontibre of the municipality of Campoo de Suso -3 km far from Reinosa- has been considered the source of the Ebro river

although it appears to be an upwelling of the Hijar river whose source is at Pico Tres Mares.

He flows more than 900 km. across the communities of Cantabria, Castilla y Leon, La Rioja, Basque Country, Navarra, Aragon and Catalonia
before ending in the mediterranean sea at Deltebre in Tarragona.

The monument depicts the Virgen del Pilar of Saragossa and the shields of the provences he travels.
