Skye is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. Loch Coruisk is a fresh water loch. It is located at the foot of the Black Cuillin. You can reach Loch Coruisk via boat from Elgol harbor or via a 8 miles walk from Sligachan. Looking at the panorama you might agree with Lord Tennyson, who wrote: “Loch Coruisk, said to be the wildest scene in the Highlands, I failed in seeing. After a fatiguing expedition over the roughest ground on a wet day we arrived at the banks of the loch, and made acquaintance with the extremest tiptoes of the hills, all else being thick wool-white fog.” And yes – the scene can be extremely wet.
