Build in the 17th century because the nearby Jesuits-School was expanding, the history of the<em>Santa Maria Maggiore Trieste</em> is quite unknown. 1682 most of the records and parts of the church were destroyed by fire, the dome as last part of the church wasn't finished before 1817.
