长春春谊宾馆的前身是由日本“南满洲铁道株式会社”建设的“大和旅馆”，1945年日本战败投降后先后由苏联红军和国民党接管。1948年9月，长春解放，这座高级旅馆划规长春铁路管理局，1955年按贺龙副总理指示，该旅馆正式移交吉林省政府使用，更名为吉林宾馆，成为吉林省第一家省级宾馆和政府重要的接待场所。五六十年代，宾馆曾接待过朱德、贺龙、陈云、胡耀邦、李立三、十世班禅等许多党和国家领导人及大批应邀来吉林的友好使团、外国旅游者、归侨等，在中外享有很高的声誉。1975年7月，宾馆改名为春谊宾馆，取长春友谊之意。现馆区由迎宾楼和贵宾楼两个楼群组成，迎宾楼建于1909年，南楼建于1939年，新楼建于1989年；贵宾楼建于1992年。

It is administered as a sub-provincial city with a population of about 7.5 million under its jurisdiction, including counties and county-level cities. The name originated from the Jurchen language. The urban districts of Changchun's city proper have a total population of 3.58 million.
