The Petroleum Building on West Texas Avenue in Midland stands 151 feet high. It was built in 1928 specifically to be a landmark, when there no other tall buildings on the plains of Texas. The building is made of reinforced concrete with a terra-cotta exterior and neo-Gothic styling.
