Home of the Sky Lanterns. Pingxi District has risen on Taiwan's tourism map as the homeland of sky lanterns. Visitors flock to the historic township during the annual Sky Lantern Festival to see these beautiful lanterns ascend into the night sky, carrying wishes for the new year up to the heavens.
