Sunset view of the caldera of the volcano of Santorini from the southern coast of the island.

Caldera was formed as a result of the eruption, which led to the death of Aegean cities and settlements on the islands of Crete, Tire and the Mediterranean coast. The eruption dates from 1645-1600 BC. e.
