Shuangyuan Bridge
Taiwan

The Shuangyuan Bridge was rebuilt in 2011. It crosses the Gaoping Stream and connects to the Linyuan District in Kaohsiung City and Sinyuan Township in Pingtung County. The original bridge had a steel rigid frame, but it was damaged when Typhoon Morakot hit Taiwan in 2009. The current one has 19 bridge piers with a depth of 68 meters, greatly adding to the bridge’s size and strength against flooding, strong wind, or other natural threats. Something noticeable are the oceanic designs that have been added to the sides of the bridge.
