Solitary Confinement - KGB Prison Cells
Tallinn

Juta Sepper said:

I was in Pagari for the second time in 1947. Why – I never found out. There were couple of interrogations and once I was taken for a “conversation” to the head of the investigation department, Idel Jakobson with his infamous red carpeted working room. This time I was also put into the solitary confinement in Pagari. It was possible to speak only by whispering in Pagari. There was one Tatar guard who shouted “tishe, tishe" (quiet, quiet) at us all the time from the shutter, even when we did not even speak, just moved our lips. Then we tied up our mouths with a scarf in order to convince him of our muteness. This was considered provoking of the guard and I was sent to the solitary confinement. Pagari solitary confinement was much worse than those of Patarei. It was very cold and in order to escape, I staged suicide. I was an old prisoner here already and all tricks of the prisoners were known. It was quite a funny story and succeeded fully. What panic ensued!
