Piotrków is a multicultural city where one can admire marvellous architecture and sacral monuments. Among the noteworthy buildings are: Roman Catholic churches, an Orthodox church, the Evangelical-Augsburg church and a synagogue. The Old Town is particularly worth seeing: it is one of the most interesting complexes of old urban buildings in Central Poland and has a centrally located market and adjacent streets. This urban layout dates back to the mid-13th century. Some fragments of old fortifications survived until the present day. The most magnificent is in the facade of the former Dominican Sisters monastery by the Kościuszko Square, another at the Jesuit church and the third at the confluence of Krakowskie Przedmieście and Garncarska street, by the rectory of St. Jacob fara church.
