The Natural History Museum of Latvia is the great place where to accompany time, experience new exhibits, tropical events and get known something new about nature and science in Latvia and in the world. One of the main tasks of the museum is to acquaint visitors with wild nature of Latvia. The Natural History Museum of Latvia, founded in 1845, is the only complex museum of natural sciences in the Baltic States. The museum gathers and maintains collections of natural specimens from Latvia and the world, does scientific research on the collections and popularizes them in permanent and temporary exhibits and other display activities. The museum consists of six exhibition themes - Geology, Botany, Zoology and Entomology, Anthropology, Paleontology and People and the Environment. It also houses a department of Exhibition and Information, a department of Collection Management, a laboratory of taxidermy, a library and photographic laboratory.
