Valdivia (founded as Santa María la Blanca de Valdivia by the conquistador Pedro de Valdivia) is the capital of Rivers Region as well as the Province of Valdivia and commune which has the same name. It is the oldest city in southern Chile, founded in 1552 after Santiago, La Serena and Concepción. It is known as "the key of the South Sea" from the colonial period, due to their network of fortifications that protected it from attacks enemigos.2 Integra along with the towns of Corral, Lancaster, and Mariquina Máfil Precinct No. 53 and belongs to the 16 th Senatorial District. The creation of Los Ríos Region XIV (March 16, 2007), becomes a region of the former Province of Valdivia, and transforms this city into the regional capital. Currently known as the "Beer Capital of Chile" .3
The city of Valdivia is located in the southern hemisphere of America, 39 ° 48'30 "S latitude and 73 ° 14'30" W longitude, to 841.24 km from Santiago, Chile 4 capital. It is located at the confluence of the Calle Calle, Valdivia - Cau-Cau and Cruces River and is located 15 km from the Bay of Corral.
