北門取孔子之言：「為政以德，譬如北辰，居其所，而眾星拱之」，稱「拱辰門」。北門形制與東門相似，以珊瑚礁石灰岩切成六角蜂巢堆砌，拱門內外均以花崗石鑲嵌，門洞在內層石拱外再加一層，以加強城門的構造，城垣有馬道直通城牆，牆上城樓只剩基座，女兒牆上有雉堞。本門外牆左右各塑一尊門神，在民間傳統認為北門是惡煞進出路線，所以塑繪門神可以避煞。當年官員從台南府南下視察，就從北門進入，北門是左營舊城的正門，所以才會塑繪門神。城外還有當時居民重要的飲水來源「拱辰井」，以及主祀福德正神的「鎮福社」，現與舊城均列為國定古蹟。
