The tomb of King Pedro I, with a cumbent statue and flanked by angels and on either side are lovely aediculae with scenes from the life of Saint Bartolomeu. The small aediculae on the freeze above it, shows scenes from the life of the Royal Family. On one side of the tomb the King is shown receiving the Viaticum and Extreme Unction. On the other is a rosette formed in 18 aediculae depicting scenes from his life as crown Prince and lover of Spanish born Inês, maid of Honour to his wife princess Constança. It shows the be heading of Inês ordered by his father against his own will and the punishement, after Constança´s death, of the three men ultimately responsible for his father´s decision to have Inês put to death.
