The Angel of the North.

Arguably the most iconic piece of modern sculpture in the UK, the Angel stands beside the A1 motorway, seen by 90,000 people per day. The 200 tonnes sculpture, which stands 20m high and has a wing span of 54 metres, is the inspiration of internationally renowned sculptor Antony Gormley and was erected on 14th February 1998.
