Der Staudamm wurde in den Jahren 1929 - 1932 gebaut und am 29.10.1933 in Anwesenheit des Präsidenten der RP Prof. Ignacy Mościcki sowie des Schlesischen Woiwoden Michał Grażyński feierlich in Betrieb genommen. Zu dieser Zeit wurden die Gas- und Wasserwerke in Bielsko von dem Ing. Nechay geleitet.
