The imposing edifice of Collegium Maximum of Nicolaus Copernicus University was erected over 100 years ago for the needs of the German Reichsbank. It stands on the site of the former Old Town moat, in a prominent location just at the entrance to the Old Town complex from the direction of the Bydgoskie District. The building is an example of the architectural form related to Northern Renaissance, which is rare in Toruń.
