Extremadura

Encina The Terrona. The road that leads to the Encina Terrona is clearly signposted from the town of Caceres Montánchez Bush, in the region of Sierra de Montánchez.Since the municipal swimming pool area there is a dirt road that runs between fences and passing through an attractive medieval bridge, cross it and the same path and between oak arrive at barely 1 km, to our left the place known as the String La Cumbre, where we find the majestic image of the Terrona Encina. Characteristics.Species: oak. Overall height: 16.5 m. Perimeter of the trunk: 7.75 m perimeter of the base: 9.42 m. Approximate age: 800 years. Environment: well-preserved stately oaks where it is easy to see typical Iberian pig herds on open range system of feed on the acorns that fall from the thousands of oak trees that exist in these lands. In these meadows near the Sierra de Montánchez not stop fluttering storks, raptors and other birds native to the Mediterranean forest.
