The divide ontop of Catalina has a spectacular view of both sides of the island with a view of west side of the island, Avalon Bay and Avalon. Most trail guide say this is a short trail, that it is, but it's a steep short trail. When you start the trail you have already hiked from the boat landing to the botanical garden, then through the garden to the start of the trail.

My recorded track from the landing to the devide road and back to the landing was 7 miles and a total gain and lost of 1066 feet. All the trail guild do not take into account there are no public transportation to the trails heads.

My pack contained a heavy tripod, heavy panorama head, full from DSLR, plus two liters of water, lunch and my ten essentials.
