Showery Tor is 500m north west of Rough Tor (pronounced 'row-ter') which at 400m is the second highest point in Cornwall. Brown Willy, the highest point can be seen just 1½ kilometres to the south east. The lake to the west is the flooded Stannon China Clay works.
All around the Tor are signs of ancient settlement, including hut circles, field systems and to the south, a small stone circle.
Rough Tor can be accessed from a car park 5km to the south east of Camelford.
