The UC San Diego Medical School is a major center for education and research. It is in La Jolla, California, USA. The school established a memorial, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, that is dedicated to those individuals who have donated their bodies to further the education and research mission. The memorial is located at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography which is part of UCSD. Next to the benches (in the image) is a plaque that reads “We began as wanderers, and we are wandering still. We have lingered long enough on the shores of the cosmic ocean. We are ready at last, to set sail for the stars – Carl Sagan”.
