The "Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio", Basilica of St Ambrose, is one of the most ancient churches in Milan and is reputed as the second most important in the city, the first being the "Duomo". Originally built by Bishop Ambrose in 379-386, it was completely reconstructed in 11th and 12th century. The nave in the 360 photo reveals the Basilica in all its magnificent, sacral architecture. Many are the important parts visible in the photo. Let's mention just a few. First of all the octagonal cupola of the ciborium, 10th century, that acts like a baldachin for the Golden Altar, a masterpiece built mid 9th century by Volvinio, or Volvinius. Behind, the large mosaic on the apse dates mostly to 6th and 8th century. Then the splendid pulpit on the left: underneath there is the 4th century's Sarcophagus of "Stilicone", the Roman general Stilicho.
