Red Cliffs Recreation Area, near St. George, Utah USA
Utah
Located 14 miles northeast of St. George, Utah, the Red Cliffs Recreation Area is a stunning camping and hiking destination. The panorama, looking down into Quail Creek, shows the variety of the terrain. Administered by the Bureau of Land Management inside of the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, which has been set aside to conserve, protect, and enhance ecological, scenic, wildlife, recreational, cultural, historical, natural, educational, and scientific resources. The area comes complete with dinosaur tracks and Anasazi Indian ruins. There are hiking trails and eleven campsites with drinking water and vault toilets available. The red cliffs form a backdrop to the lush riparian area along the creed bed. Despite its proximity to the city and access from the Interstate, this area remains virtually unvisited by the many tourists in the area. Access to the campground is through two tunnels that limit vehicle size to 12 feet in height or width.
