Along the edges of the Great Salt Lake in Utah, mineral extraction companies capture water from the lake in large solar evaporation ponds. On a calm day, the shallow ponds mirror the surrounding land and sky. Here at the southern end of the lake, the water reflects the Stansbury Mountains and an approaching spring snow storm. Also visible are the Oquirrh Mountains to the northeast and the Cedar Mountains beyond the Stansburys to the west.
