St. Andrews is home of St. Andrews University – oldest university in Scotland and third oldest university in the UK – just after Oxbridge. St. Andrews is also known as home of golf. According to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews the Old Course is the oldest existing golf course in the world. Until 2005 Hamilton Hall was a hall of residence of the university. Overlooking the West Sands the building could be seen in a famous scene of the movie “Chariots of Fire”.
