Storm over Panorama Point, Redlands California
California

Panorama Point is a scenic overlook that provides a sweeping view of the city of Redlands and the San Bernardino Valley. The stonework at the point was done back in the 1930s by Redlands stone masons Luther W. Gist and Eligio Benzor.  To the north is the long wall of the San Bernardino Mountains. The massive Seven Oaks dam can be seen nestled in their foothills. Huge thunderheads billowing over the peaks of the San Bernardinos are a common sight in the summer as monsoonal flows of moisture come up from the south east. These storms are usually confined to the mountain peaks but on this occasion they had sufficient momentum to break out into the valley below. Thunder was rumbling and the first drops of rain were beginning to fall as the pictures for this panorama were taken.
