This is the oldest Western-style building that still exists in Taiwan, having been built around 1864-1866. Seriously damaged by bombing during World War II as well as by natural calamities, it was renovated in 1986 and is now operated by the Ministry of the Interior as the Kaohsiung Historical Relics Museum.
