The man at the sea, in folkmoon often called The 4 white men, is a 9 meter high sculpture in white concrete, performed by sculptor, painter and graphic designer Svend Wiig Hansen. It is located north of Esbjerg near Sædding Strand. The location just opposite the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, one of the area's major tourist attractions, makes it very exposed and has become a well-known landmark for Esbjerg.
The sculpture was revealed on October 28, 1995 and is listed by the Municipality of Esbjerg, the State Art Foundation and private sponsors in connection with the municipality's 100th anniversary in 1994.
