The Roundhouse once had a 35-metre tall tower on top called Samuel Wyatt's Tower. Built in 1792, it served as a lighthouse for more than a century. It was replaced by the High Light Tower, now known as the Old Lighthouse, in 1904. It stands next to other former lighthouse keeper cottages.
Dungeness is a large headland jutting out into the English Channel from the Kent coast. The unique landscape of low-lying shingle is classified as a desert and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. As if that wasn't surreal enough the area is peppered with dozens of small dwellings, lighthouses and a nuclear power station.
