An ex-resort island adopted as the fifth district of Male'. Colonised in the late 1990s, in order to ease burden of immense population of Male'. Now fully colonised, with a good infrastructure. Most villingilians commute to Male for work/school, preferring to educate their children in the more established schools of male, rather than the fledgling schools of vilingili, although this trend is slowly changing. Transfer from villingili to Male' is via government subsidized ferries, that run every half an hour.
