Amoreiras Center
Designed by architect Tomás Taveira, Amoreiras Shopping Center was inaugurated in September 1985, definitively marking the landscape of Lisbon. Amoreiras, as it is commonly called by the people of Lisbon, was the first large space for commerce and services built in Portugal within a city. It stood out for its monumentality and bold architectural lines, which earned its author the 1993 Valmor and Municipal Architecture Prize. People came from all over to visit the shopping center and the Torres das Amoreiras, everything was new. At the Amoreiras Shopping Center, several personalities and famous people passed by. It was the case of Michael Knight character played by David Hasselhoff in the series “The Punisher” and the car, the “Kit”, in 1987, was crazy. I was there. With security rushes, people, the parking lot full, we weren't used to this kind of conviviality, almost hysteria. It was the trendiest place in a country that entered the wonderful world of shopping centers.
