Despite the Earthquake of 2011 is a beauty among the cities of New Zealand. The strong determination of the people of Christchurch to rebuild their city is admirable. The Cardboard Cathedral (official name: Transitional Cathedral) was designed by Shigeru Ban. It was opened in August 2013. The name derives from the cardboard tubes that – together with a cover made from polycarbonate – form the roof of the cathedral.
