Ciliwung River Bank, Jakarta
Indonesia

The Ciliwung River runs from the Puncak south of Jakarta, to the northern coast of Java. The river has the reputation as being the most polluted river in the world. Sewage and rubbish is deposited into the river, which eventually ends up in the sea. Because of the lack of living space within the city, many families have have settled in Kampungs along the river where fresh water and sanitation are a luxury.
