The Ezihliao Fishing Port was re-built in 1988 from a traditional small port through the governmental development plan to modernize the local fisheries industry and to raise the fishermen's living standard. The port is now a renowned seafood market as well as a tourist spot. Visitors are able to indulge in the fresh and warm smell of seawater while watching the white gush of wave by the sailing fishing boats. Other than that, the port is mostly known for its produce of fresh, high quality mullet roe, which are brought by the Kuroshio current. The amounts of annual catches can reach 4,000 tons with a gross trading sum of US$14 million.
