Falkirk - The Falkirk Wheel, Series 2a
The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift connecting the Union Canal to the Forth and Clyde Canal. This is actually the largest rotating boat lift in the world – actually it is the only one of this construction principle. It was opened in 2002 and it is a masterpiece of British engineering. The overall diameter of the wheel is 35 metres. The ships are lifted by 24 metres. This panorama is part of a series of 4 panoramas showing different states of the rotation.
