Blacthorn in blossom at Ford, Wiltshire. VR

This image has been re-mastered for Virtual Reality using a suitable viewer.

Both Blackthorn and Hawthorn are hedgerow trees with white blossoms. The difference is: Blackthorn blossoms early - in March or April.

It's also called a Sloe.  A very pleasant winter alcoholic drink is produced by infusing the autumn berries with gin.
