Glass Mountain, California, Inyo National Forest
In the Eastern Sierra, Glass Mountain is the tallest peak in Mono County and is within the Inyo National Forest. The peak is part of the long Glass Mountain Ridge and part of the eastern boundary of the Long Valley Caldera. A steep class 1 trail from the east in Adobe Valley leads to a saddle at 9,880 feet, then climbs steeply to the summit. Along the way, you will find old-growth lodgepole, limber, and whitebark pines. The peak at 11,128 ft (3,392 m) has a panoramic view of the Sierra Nevada, the White Mt. Range, Mono Lake, and the Owens Valley many miles to the southeast. A second peak with an antenna is also called Glass Mountain but is slightly lower.
