From information I gleaned from various online sources, this may have been an training or auxiliary training airfield for the Lone Pine Airport. Accounts of use by the Fourth Air Force, a predecessor of the USAF. During WWII, it was used for training but there where no accounts of it being connected to the Manzanar Relocation Camp. The land was purchased in 1941 by Los Angeles for water rights in the Owens Valley. Manzanar section was leased to the federal government for the Manzanar Relocation Camp. Other accounts of the airport used by the Nevada Army National Guard and Aerojet General in the 60's for testing. In the early 30's the airfield was used for drag races. The Los Angeles Aqueduct is located just east of the airstrip.
