Granite Lake is located at the base of Gibson Peak in the Trinity Alps Wilderness near Trinity Center, California.  A five mile hike from the trailhead leads one to this gem as it sits below picturesque granite cliffs.  As winter closes in, the lake is very calm w/ small parts of it starting to freeze.  Most of the Red Trinities consist of peridotite geology however Gibson Peak is a granite intrusion that tops off as the highest peak in the area.
