The town's ferry connections to other lakeside resorts make it a good base for sightseeing and the cable-car running up to Monte Baldo is a magnet for cyclists, walkers and paragliders. Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy.
A cableway runs from Malcesine up to the high mountain ridge behind the town, Monte Baldo, climbing from 100m to 1760m. Malcesine is a medium sized ski resort with 6 ski lifts ( 1 gondola, 1 chair lift, 4 surface lifts) that offers skiers a respectable 450 metres (1476 feet) of vertical descent.
