Monastery of Montesclaros 1

The present church and monastery began to be built in the seventeenth century under the reign of Charles II who trusted the custody of the sanctuary to the Dominicans monks.

The image of the Virgin is painted wood gothic (XIVth century).

Recent archaeological excavations have unearthed a Romanesque chapel with a Ramirense style altar.
