Old Lifeboad Slipway

A view of the North Landing at Flamborough from the top of the old lifeboat slipway. The old lifeboat shed is behind, now disused, the new Flamborough lifeboat, a RIB, is based at the South Landing.

The landing has been used to launch fishing boats for centuries. A few remaining cobles still fish from here for crab and lobster. The cobles pushed in and pulled out across the sand on greased woods by tractor. This was previously done by horse power. There is also an old single cylinder Crossley engine attached to a winch in the engine house to the west, still in working order for pulling the boats out.
