Parabolic sound mirrors, Dungeness, Kent
Built as an early warning device for aircraft the three concrete “listening ears” at Denge on Dungeness are the best examples of this technology and are Grade 1 listed as Ancient Monuments. They were effective, but the development of faster aircraft made them redundant, as an aircraft would be within sight by the time it had been located.
