Big Springs - Sacramento River headwaters

Big Springs is located at the city park in Mt. Shasta, California.  This site is considered to be the headwaters of the Sacramento River, which travels south through the Central Valley to the San Francisco Bay area.  The water coming out was formerly fallen snow on Mt. Shasta at about 8,200 feet elevation before seeping into the ground & spending the next 50 years in the aquifer before emerging here.
