Signal Hill in Narsarsuaq
Greenland

View from Signal Hill near Narsarsuaq Airport.

Narsarsuaq was built by US Army Airforce in 1941 and was an important steppingstone for planes crossing the Atlantic during WWII.

The US Airforce left the base in 1958 and it is now the gate to Southern Greenland.

Right across the fiord Eric the Red - the first European to settle in Greenland - had his farm.

The hilltop is home to navigational aids such as the aiports DME.
