Smolensk disaster monument unveiled in Warsaw
A Polish plane crashed in Smolensk, western Russia, on 10 April 2010, killing all 96 on board including then-President Lech Kaczyński, his wife and dozens of political and military top brass. Why stairs? The monument has a stepped shape, evoking associations with the gangway of the plane.
